AT LAST

Well, it's been AGES since I posted anything on this blog. Primarily since I couldn't log in! SOme strange chinese characters prevented me from being able to read, then of course there was the lost password fiasco. *sighs*

Anyhow, i have been FLAT OUT recently! painting up to 6 paintings daily, went to Toowoomba recently to deliver paintings for art award, and had wisdom tooth removed.

I'm sitting here at 3.51 am with a throbbing gum and stitches- time for bed. I shall finsih this in more detail tomorrow!

night night.

RAIN

It's Raining!!! And don't we need it!
Living on the driest continent on earth makes you realise how sacred and important the rain is. A lot of my paintings are inspiered by nature and the earth- the fusion between earth and water- the beautiful estuaries which surround the island I live on. The bay I travel over each time I go to the mainland.
The wildlife here is so abundant, and nearby Stradbroke island is a haven for waterbird and a multitude of flora/fauna. It's truly magical.
I think it's a good time to showcase a few of the pieces I have painted over the past 12 months which have been inspired by this magical world of ours.
The following are from my "Wild earth" & "Exotic Earth" series. Enjoy!

Commissions....

On a number of occassions, I have been commissioned to paint numerous pieces for clients wanting specific desgins for their existing decor.

One of my most memorable commisions of note was for a an amzing couple, a Cardiologist, and his wife who also happens to be a Dr of Paediatrics, who reside in the USA
I had the pleasure of corresponding with Eric and Nicole over a couple of weeks in 2006 as I worked on creating a unique piece for the family to hang in their family room, referred to as their "Sanctuary".
*The Sanctuary

I was fortunate enough to be able to view images of their gorgeous home, which is very stylish and modern with simple, clean minimal lines and vast expanses and white walls. The views to the garden were provided through the existance of large feature windows which create a beautiful harmonious melding of the two worlds, the inner sanctum of their home and the magnificent natural beauty of the woods in the garden outside.

The H. family were wishing for a piece of art which would represent the harmony between the two loving parents with their adorable new born baby girl. We worked very closely on ideas and decided upon painting a triptych which symbolises the 3 individuals within the family, and also the close loving bond they all shared. Above all else I wanted to create a work of art which would compliment their sanctuary, and bring a further sense of peace and tranquility to their home.

The results can been seen in the following images- and the family were very happy and surprised ( Nicole was unaware of the surprise her loving husband had organised for her and their beautiful daughter!)

I truly appreciate their support of my art, and their offering of these photos for use on my website.

Here are some of my other paintings which have been making waves over the past few years on ebay! (FULL CATALOGUE SOON!)

Thanks to my collectors, for all of your support!

The ghosts are calling....

Well I've been flat out as usual in the studio..I guess I should begin this blog with something about me so here it is.....
I'm living on an island, and am quite happily detached from the mainland of Australia and living the true bohemian existance-
My studio is the same size as my entire upstairs living area, and it is filled with a constant cycle of blank white canvas/ painted canvas/ blank white canvas- which tends to grow down there like some mysterious ghost entity and it is my duty to fill up those white spaces by days end. I'm painting between 3 to 6 paintings on around 12-36 canvases a day- putting finishing touches on them over the following days as I start the next days work. It's a systematic life I've come to live and breathe and love more than anything I could have ever possibly imagined a few years ago.

All this water around me- the breezes are amazing. The smell of salt and sea. The birds my neighbourhood buddies tweeting at me all day. Some of them are such freaks, haha, running along in the dark of night- no street lights here. You hear them and if you're in your car they come running along and end up in front of you like some kind of pteradactyl trying to set flight. Weird creatures. I have no idea what they are.
AH the ghosts- I painted 6 on six of them yesterday. Amazing how many i've now done over the past few years. What is it? 6-700 pieces? Countless. I figured out that over this 12 months I will have painted 1000 in a year AT least. Crazy. thats up to 6000 canvases in total. Am I insane? I was reading about Egon Shiele yesterday- in his short career spanning around 10 years, he painted 3-400 Oils- and did around 1000 sketches. And that was considered to be phenominal. I really am crazy!
Well, that's it for now, back to work. The white ghosts are calling....
