Moving sale winds down...

We are almost ready to close down ebay for the move. All paintings have been drastically reduced to make room for new art in the coming months in our NEW studio!
These prices are a definate one off
, as we will not be moving again for quite some time- we have a wonderful new studio to work from and are settling down for a while. We do plan on moving to Berlin for a few years but that's not on the cards for quite some time. A few holidays first!

I am rather exhausted with arranging everything- having 2 cats and a dog, plus the three of us to arrange flights for, is quite a task in coordination! Plus juggling in dates for removalists, electricians and final studio preparation, not to mention packing and cleaning our current studio and residence, it is quite monumental. And amongst all of this, I AM STILL TEACHING!!!! I don't know where I find the time, but I guess Robert is a huge part of this business and does play a large part in our success. Ahhhh....to be relaxing in our new hammock equipped studio in a few weeks! :)

Until then... I doubt I'll be on here at all- emails are always responded to within 24 hours and Robert will be handling all deliveries.

Adios... and enjoy the sale while you can!Sej.

Moving sale, new studio!

We are in the process of moving to our new studio- due to the costs involved with shipping hundreds of artworks thousands of kilometres, we are having to sell all of my studio collection at massive price reductions. We have literally hundreds of my original paintings available but once we move, the prices will go back to our usual start price and store items will also be back to normal buy it now or best offers at around $600 and above.

Take advantage of our situation as this is a genuine one off clearance sale! We have made a HUGE investment in our new studio, it is 18 metres long and and it will be our permanent working studio for many years to come- we do not anticipate moving again for a long time if ever!

Below are progress shots of our new studio- before the concrete was laid. It has sliding doors, skylights, and will be painted when we get there! New shelving units and a mezzanine floor will complete the picture. Photos of me at work in the new studio will be posted in the coming months!

* The walls are 3 metres high- the roof is actually 4m high!!!

It is the biggest studio we have ever worked in, the first we have ever owned, and a long way from the original single car garage I started in a number of years ago! How the business has grown!

Keep watch for the new works from Robert in the New Year- he really is phenominal and has not had the chance to work as prolifically as me, but this will be changing now that we have 2 extra helpers on our new studio. The sky is the limit!

He is a genius, and my shining light through all of our adventures- and he started me on my journey and I am eternally in his debt.

We make a great team!

Talent abounds!

(Kermit- commission painted by Robert Renfield in 2006)

The following are a selection of works by my gifted partner in crime and all things artistic, Rob-

Rob is available for commissioned works on canvas- including portraits- I am letting you know because they will be available again in the future (after we relocate to the new studio) he is a little too busy right now with the regular work we do for ebay- but in a few weeks he will be ready. Usual rates are Starting at $900 for a commissioned painting on canvas which would take usually 1-2 weeks for completion.

(Fiona Apple by Robert Renfield- 2006)
As you can see, the talent abounds in this household! Good thing we have a massive new studio because really, Rob has been stifled by the amount of work I hae been doing and helping me get all the commissions and sold works packed and sent! He has been the backbone in our business- it will be great for him to be able to create on a regular basis again!
Back soon with more updates...
Love to all,
Sej

Sej & Renfield- EBAY GOLD POWERSELLERS!

Powerseller status as at August 23rd, 2008!

I wanted to take a little moment to thank all of my collectors over the past few years, who have helped support my art in its development and not only that, but also propelled the business of Sej & Renfield into GoldPOWERSELLER status!

It is not easy to reach these heights, but to this very day we are STILL Gold POWERSELLERS!

SO THANK YOU! To all who have shown us encouragement, support and love- without you we would not we where we are today and I would not have become the successful artist I am today!

Of course thank you goes to Robert and his family who have given me immeasurable support, in every possible way... you are my closest friends, family, and kin.

With the support of collectors worldwide, my art has grown in size and popularity!

And now we have worked to a level where it justify's us owning our very own studio!

NO MORE RENT! Which is amazing and rare to have at such an early stage in my art career.

Even though I have been painting for many years it is only the past 4-5 that I have been selling so regularly and now at the stage of selling at times 3 paintings a day!

Special thanks go out to some of the collectors really have a special place in my heart, particularly Ray in New York, whose heartfelt thanks, and words of encouragement has driven me to this day!

Commissions are always flooding in, and new requests from all over the world!

THANK YOU for everything! My aim is to continue to grow and develop in time, entering more art awards and shows and hopefully one day, going to next step from being a finalist, to actually winning a major prize! I wish to do this for all of my collectors and friends!

Studio- a work in progress!

This is our beloved new studio, being built from the ground up!

It has taken a few months to get her up- and these photos are NOT conclusive- we have since had the concrete laid and the windows and doors put in :)

It includes skylights all along the roof for lots of natural light which is essential for an artist!

We are also looking at getting a slow-combustion wood heater for winter as being a Leo, I love snuggling up next to a nice glowing stove.

Wintertime we may have some aircon- will have to work on the rooms yet and possibly section off an area for cooling as I like too spend a lot of time in the studio and the temperature is a crucial thing!

To top it off will be one of our leather sofas, a nice little tea and coffee area , complete with handcarved Tunisean Chess Set and table!!! (love my chess! keeps the mind active!)
The walls are 3 metres high- the roof is around 3.5 metres High

The photos don't really do justice to the sheer size of the studio- I think the best idea is when you look at the land before the earth was dug and compare it to the trees- it takes up most of the block!

It's the biggest to be had without going industrial! We tried for bigger but the councils have size restrictions , of course lol. Eventually we will have to buy an inner city warehouse!
Coming Soon! The Studio Complete!

UPCOMING EXHIBITION!!!

I will be exhibiting later this month in Bondi Beach, Sydney.
The exhibition will be for 3 weeks at a prominant Gallery!
I will be sending personal invitations to all my collectors in the Sydney area- if you are going to be in the area let me know I will send you an invitation too, via snail mail!
I will also be emailing many invations and there will be around 500 people invited so it should be an amazing opening!

My sister will be in Sydney at the time- she works for Murdoch, is the NSW manager for Domain online advertising which is quite amazing! High pressure I am sure with all of those people working under you and so much to control....
I will be sending her some invitations and see if she can wrangle a few extras for the opening! Should be fun!

I am still preparing for the big move- the studio is all ready to move in- just some issues to sort through first then we are on our way! I can't wait- it is going to be amazing and I am so looking forward to all that extra space!!!

I'll have to post a photo or two of the finished space once we get there!

I have a few new projects underway-
* an album cover for a friend in the UK
* ETSY
* and something new to ebay soon!!!

Oh it's my birthday soon :) I'll be turnin 34!!! Crazyyyy!!!

Had an amazing weekend with some friends and it was a little naughty... we were drinking Absinthe shots as the spoon went "missing" so we had to improvise! It was kind of crazy and we were listening to Hendrix "Rainbow Bridge"..... The shots were lighting up the room with blue flames. Absinthe is tasty- has an aniseed flavour... and slightly sweet.

Also Rob and I bashed out a few songs on the guitar- was amazing to hear him sing again as he is just amazing- we were all stomping our feet and dancing and cheering and Dan was saying "you should be on JJJ" lol it was so much fun!

Crazy times in the morning- they were hungover and went to MOVIEWORLD for some rides as it was Dan's little sister's birthday... crazy crazy crazy I don't know how they managed to get on any rides let alone all that noise!

Well... time for me to go and get back to the studio-

LOTS of packing!

Adios babeeees...

Painting Pictures...

Above is Adele- she's like me it's not funny- red hair and all. I even write songs like her... the composition is SO out of my repitoire... maybe she's a lost relative?

Busy times of late have prevented me from blogging very often- to be honest it may be that soon, I won't be likely to blog at all... I mean who really wants to hear what I have to say as opposed to SEE what I have to say. If I were a great writer i'd be selling books, not paintings :P

I do have some exciting news- those collectors of mine in the Sydney area (a little over 100 at last count!) will be recieving an exclusive invitation to my upcoming exhibition in Bondi. Of course anyone is welcome to attend if you're in the area, I'll be posting details soon.

Thanks Ray, if you're reading this fingers crossed for the upcoming New York show! I hope your sister enjoys her gift :)

That's all for now...

I read today that Nick Cave is doing more gigs with grinderman this year- and then writing a 2nd album for Grinderman!!!! I can't believe the man. I mean he only just released his latest Bad Seeds album, is on tour up until October with the Bad seeds, but then is managing to fit in a European Grinderman tour, and record a new album!!!!!! and then continue touring!!!!????? This guy is a real workaholic. I am so inspired by him ... he's just amazing and the energy he puts into his concerts is just phenominal! *faints*

What a man.

Watermarking of My work- Exhibitions and News!!!

Some of you may have noticed recent changes to my listing format, in particular the inclusion of a watermark on my photos in my ebay listings.

While I really hate the appearance of watermarks on artworks, it is unfortunately something I have had to start doing due to a large number of art theft and copyright breaches.

Meanwhile, a further note on my previous blog regarding represntation by a New York Gallery- yes this is going ahead- I have the all clear, and it will be around September that I can give you all the details. I am thrilled to say the least! I cannot give any further details as the gallery has a strict publicity policy as it is very prominent and respected, and people generally have to pay a LOT to have their work critiqued/advertised by this gallery.

As a consequence I will be commanding a much higher price from my work, as a reflection of my position and growing recognition in the art world, and the increased investment value of my work.

Here's a photo of one of my smaller works, on exhibition recently, at the Steps Gallery, Lygon St, Carlton. It was featured in the "2008 Annual Collector's Exhibition"

'Transient Lanscape- Connectivity' By Sej 2008. All Rights Reserved.
I am pleased to say that my painting now has a home in a permanent collection in Melbourne!
I've been working on a new series- well, a couple of new series actually- keeping things fresh and turning the page. I ahve also been revisiting some of my former styles from back on 2005- however on much larger scale and of course an improved vision and bigger statement.

I painted a nude today, has been a while and will be starting to sell more of those once I get a new strore format created! :)
I have to save for some other big thing which is coming up later in the year... lets say it involves a massive makeover and huge potential for growth!
Well... time to jump in the shower... am colouring my hair and it's about done!

Au revoir

New York representation and more!!!

Greetings!

First of all, I have the pleasure to announce that a prominant New York art gallery has so kindly accepted my proposals, and are offering to represent me- I am not quite ready to divulge the name of this gallery as yet- but rest assured once I am officially part of the collection, I will let you know!!! I am so excited and really can't wait as they have in mind a 3 week exhibition for me to showcase my art- I really am beside myself :) The exposure is going to be ENORMOUS!

_______________________________

In other news, I have just concluded another exhibition- this time I participated in a group show at the Steps Gallery in Carlton, Melbourne! I was there for 2 weeks and my friend Sandra was kind enough to act as my agent as far as delivery and collection of my art- Thanks Sandra!

Anyway, I will be very busy over the next few weeks/months- have some serious matters to attend to but I've always got new paintings listed in my ebay store... go check them out!

bye for now...

Recent breach of copyright/copyright violations

***BREACH OF COPYRIGHT***
Warning: There have been a number of identified cases of copyright violations against my work, fraudulent copies of my art being reproduced and sold on ebay.

These offenders are dealt with accordingly- I have been successful in having artwork which breaches my copyright successfully removed via ebay's VERO programme.
Buyers:
Please be sure your work is an original Sej. All of my artwork is sold directly from my ebay store, and ALWAYS has the sej signature within the listing. Copycat and reproduction art is sold in a different store, without my signature present in the listing, and is significantly cheaper in price- namely because this is poor qulaity and imitation art.
Please only buy my original art because it has investment value, and these other sellers are not authorised to copy or redistribute my art, and buying from them means you are supporting the black market, and buying something of poor quality and of no real value.
If you are in doubt about the authenticity of an artwork, please contact me via my personal email: sej@night-thought.com and I will verify whether it is indeed my art.
COPYCAT ARTISTS AND VIOLATORS OF COPYRIGHT:
I have so far been successful in removing paintings from four sellers on ebay (nationally AND internationally), who have violated my copyrights. If you are considering stealing my images, reproducing, or re-selling then think twice. You will be caught out, and you will pay the consequences.
I WILL ALWAYS SEEK LEGAL ACTION OVER ANY BREACH OF COPYRIGHT

______________________________________________

Tuesday, May 6th 2008...

just caught another 11 rip-offs today, that's right ELEVEN!

EVERY one of them has been reported to ebay and will be removed. I will then be taking legal action and seeking damages. Keep them coming...

I actually went through 90 individual pages today to find those eleven rip-offs of my art. I quite enjoy the challenge and at the end of the day, it will be more money in my pocket when I get my compensation. It's weird too.. I mean my art is being reproduced by these scammers alongside the great painters like Van gogh, gaugin, Matisse even Rothko... I guess it shows I'm doing something right!

MAJOR events!

Well, I have submitted my art into another two major art shows!

I will fill you in on the details once I get more info closer to the selection dates :)
Fingers crossed!

Also, coming up in May I hope to be showing at a prominant Melbourne Gallery. More updates closer to the date!

Phewwww! it was a mad rush to get my submissions in the other day as the closing date was this Monday- so I hope my documents get there in time :)

In other news- My painting "Transient Landscape"

http://red-lights.deviantart.com/art/Transient-Landscape-76719861
has now crept up into number 7 position of ALL time most popular abstract paintings on DeviantArt. That's 7 out of thousands of abstract paintings! I am well chuffed :)

Nick Cave Has My Artwork!!!

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I am a devout follower of the phenominally talented Australian Singer/songwriter/author/actor and film-maker, Mr Nick Cave.

With a multitude of Albums, An ARIA award and induction into the ARIA hall of fame, Nick Cave is a living legend.
He has recently gained notoriety for his film "The Propostition", a wild western style drama Set in the Australian Outback.

His Critically acclaimed novel "And the Ass saw the Angel" through Black Spring Press, has multiple editions and has been printed in numerous languages.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds release their 14th studio album DIG, LAZARUS, DIG!!! on 3rd March 2008 on Mute (April 8th on Anti in the US)!!!!

I listen to Nick Cave & the Bad seeds virtually EVERY time I paint- and to be honest he would have to be the greatest influence on my art and creativity.

Well, aside from all that- I am HONORED to have met the man during his recent tour with "Grinderman". I was given front row centre for both nights of the Brisbane Gigs at the Tivoli.
I actually took some photographs for the media on the evening during the beginning of the "Solo" set.
AMAZING. I will upload some footage soon!

Nick now has in his possession a book of my sketches , which he said was "Beautiful" ( of which he proudly displayed the book of sketches for the viewing of the entire crowd of thousands!)

THAT for me is the epitome of bliss- to be received by such a man of greatness with such artistic integrity, to know that my art is in his possession is an amazing feeling.
So, THANK YOU, Nick!

If you live in Melbourne, there is an exhibition of Nick Cave's life including songbooks, scripts, letters, trinkets and even his collction of art on display!
Read more on the exhibition here....
http://www.theartscentre.net.au/whats-on_detail.aspx?view=2710

I encourage you to visit the exhibtion, if you know little of Nick Cave and the Bad seeds. If you love my art then you are sure to understand where a lot of my energy comes from!
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds = My Tonic.

Stay tuned!

Latest Paintings

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
What an amazing year has passed-I managed to work my butt off and within 12 months of selling on ebay, gained GOLD powerseller status (Actually got there in around 8 months!!!)
That means I am right up alongside some of the best selling artists on ebay.
I can't really say that I am at all surprised though, as I have made it my mission from the start to be successful in my career as an artist.
Thank you SO MUCH to all of my collectors and new found friends for helping me to make it as a self-representing artist!

I am proud to say that I made it as a finalist in the Queensland Regional Art Awards- for the second year running, and 2 of my pieces were selected for exhibition for a total of 6 weeks, at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery, and Metro Arts in Brisbane CBD.
I was promoted on the website DeviantART during the Official Traditonal Art Day 2007 as a featured artist- not bad for one of a few million artists on that website!!!

I am pleased to say i now have my art hanging in collections throughout the world over, and over 35 States in the U.S.A!!!

And on top of all this, I taught my son all year (FULLTIME-yes it has been a major effort) and he successfully completed grade 2!

Prouder still, My son won FIRST PRIZE in a Childrens art award which was exhibited and awarded at the Town Hall in Brisbane!!!
He won first prize for the watercolour section for 8 year olds :)

WAY TO GO THOMMY!!!

SO it's on to 2008... and to ring in the new year I have begun with my new "Cherish" series.
It's a beautiful fusion of my signature expressive stylings, with some subtle undertones and rich hues to create a truly delectable contemporary feel!

To purchase any of my latest artworks,

visit my store on ebay at

Enjoy!!!
